MANILA, Philippines—Police are investigating the alleged theft of a Japanese man’s car in Pasig City before dawn Friday, police said.
Senior Superintendent Jessie Lorenzo Cardona, city police chief, said that Japanese national Kenjie Kaneko, 42, reported that his silver Hyundai Accent (PRI-722) was stolen at around 4 a.m. while parked in front of his home along F. Marino Avenue in Dela Paz village.

The vehicle was registered to Trendy Plastic Manufacturing, a firm being managed by the victim.

He said that Kaneko’s mother-in-law told police that she thought it was strange when she heard the car start and drive off at the time.
