WASHINGTON—Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton will visit U.S. treaty allies Thailand and the Philippines before attending the annual East Asia summit in Indonesia this month.

The State Department said Wednesday the visits underscore U.S. efforts to strengthen key alliances in the region.

Clinton will first attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum in Hawaii and hold bilateral meetings with a number of foreign ministers. President Barack Obama will also attend APEC.

After APEC, Clinton will visit Manila on Tuesday to mark the 60th anniversary of the U.S.-Philippines Mutual Defense Treaty. The next day she goes to Bangkok, where Thai authorities are battling severe floods.

Clinton then travels to Bali, attending the East Asia summit with Obama.

Clinton is visiting Thailand and the Philippines. Wow, 60th anniversary of US-Philippines Mutual Defense Treaty. US-Thailand Treaty is only 49 years.  Thailand Air Force has 55 F-16s. Philippine Air Force has 0. Thailand Navy has 2 frigates and 2 corvettes. Philippine Navy has 0. When we felt the threat from China, US did not indicate direct military support in case of confrontation. So when the going get’s tough, no one’s going to help us.

also, don’t forget Japan, the favorite asian ally of the u.s…they could never be a threat, could they?

’60th anniversary of the U.S.-Philippines Mutual Defense Treaty’

makes you wonder where their loyalties were
when they were in their decisive positions

sabi ni sarge di pa sila makapasok doon
        top secret daw

mas astig at experienced sundalo natin

Yesterday, sinabi ni Obama na for the security of the Southern Pacific and Oceania, the US will put several hundreds to thousands of US Marines in DARWIN Australia. Ang US Marines ay may sariling aircraft like AH-1 Cobra, Osprey, F18 Super Horney etc.
