‘Dirty finger’ gets OFW in trouble

/ 02:16 AM October 26, 2011

A Saudi-based overseas Filipino worker (OFW) is in big trouble after he was caught by his Arab supervisor with an illustration of a “dirty finger” with a blasphemous caption, according to a Riyadh-based OFW group.

The unidentified 32-year-old factory worker, said to be from Laguna province, was arrested by the Saudi religious police after the supervisor reported the incident and has been detained since October 14, said Eric Jocson, chairman of the  Kapatiran sa Gitnang Silangan (KGS).

That drawing’s caption read “F..k you Mohamad,” presumably referring to the prophet and preacher of Islam to the Arabs.

The OFW had earlier “complained against his supervisor’s decision to transfer him to another job site,” in the Saudi capital, Jocson said.

The unnamed OFW “might face a case of violation of Saudi customary prohibitions,” said John Leonard Monterona, Migrante-Middle East coordinator.

Migrante-Middle East said it would consult a shariah lawyer, as well as seek the help of the Philippine embassy in Riyadh, to “provide legal assistance to the jailed OFW.” Jerry E. Esplanada
