The United States Embassy in Manila will be closed to the public on Monday, October 9, in observance of an American holiday, its Information Office said on Thursday.

“The Embassy of the United States in the Philippines and its affiliated offices will be closed to the public on Monday, October 9, in observance of Columbus Day, an American holiday,” the Embassy said in a statement.

“Its offices will resume their regular services on Tuesday, October 10,” it added.

Columbus Day is a national holiday celebrated every second Monday of October in the US. It commemorates explorer Christopher Columbus’ first arrival in the Americas. /idl
