Exact time of executions remains unknown

The exact time of the executions of nine death row inmates remains unknown although all legal efforts to save the convicts have been exhausted, indicating the executions are imminent.

Jakarta Prosecutors’ Office head M.Adi Toegarisman said that based on security checks jointly conducted with Central Java Police chief Insp. Gen. Noer Ali on Nusakambangan prison island, the executions of nine death row inmates were all ready to be carried out.

“On the execution time, we cannot yet give you any information,” Adi said as quoted by Antara in Cilacap, Central Java, on Tuesday.

In response to a further question as to whether the executions would be held in Tunggal Panaluan shooting range, Adi said he also could not confirm that.

Tunggal Panaluan was the location of the first batch of executions under President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s administration in January.
