3 Fil-Am seniors die in fiery car crash in Sacramento, California

Scene of car crash that killed three elderly Filipinos and a wrong-way driver on Highway 50 near Sacramento, California.

SAN FRANCISCO — A wrong-way driver smashed into a truck bearing three elderly Filipinos on a Sacramento highway Wednesday, April 22. The three Filipino men, including the wrong-way driver, were all declared dead at the scene.

The truck reportedly burst into flames after the crash. The victims have been identified as Nick Bacareza, Antonio Kilayko and Pete Rivera, all in their 70s, were residents of Stockton, California.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred just before 2:30 a.m. on Highway 50 near Stockton Blvd. in Sacramento,

The driver of a Toyota Prius, reportedly a young woman who also died in the crash, drove the wrong direction on the highway and collided with the truck carrying the Filipino men. A toxicology report on the driver is expected later this week.

The Filipino victims were reportedly headed home from Red Hawk Casino in Placer County.
