Fil-Am honor student brutally beaten in San Jose mall

Christian Rasner, 17, was brutally beaten and is still in a drug-induced coma.

SAN JOSE, California – Filipino American Christian Rasnerr, 17, is still in critical condition after suffering a brutal beating from two unidentified men in a parking lot near Westfield Valley Fair Mall on March 11.

Rasner is in a drug-induced coma at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. A hospital spokesperson said his vital signs are still unstable. His mother, Maria, is from Cebu City.

Police said the third-year high school honor student was at the mall with a friend when two men approached and asked if they belonged to a gang.

The youths tried to flee but the attackers caught up with them in the parking lot.

Rasner’s father, Greg, said his son denied any gang affiliation, but the men still attacked him, causing severe head injuries.
