Greater Chicago Fil-Ams set lots of History Month events

CHICAGO, Illinois — October will see a full schedule of events in the Greater Chicago Area marking Filipino American History Month.

Meanwhile, Governor Pat Quinn last August proclaimed October 2014 as Filipino American History Month in Illinois in honor of the contributions of Filipino Americans to the state and the nation.

The US Congress in 2009 passed HR780 recognizing every October thereafter as Filipino American History Month (FAHM) to celebrate the history and culture of Filipino Americans and their historic contributions to the US.

FEATURED STORIES

The Philippine American Cultural Foundation (PACF) since 2011 has spearheaded the celebration with the participation of other Filipino American organizations in the greater Chicago area.

This year, newly appointed Consul General Generoso Calonge hosted the FAHM planning meeting at the consulate in Chicago.
