Tickets for ‘Guerrillas of Powell Street’ now on sale

/ 07:19 AM July 03, 2014

SAN FRANCISCO, California – Tickets for Bindlestiff Studio’s “The Guerrillas of Powell Street” are now on sale for the play’s run starting July 10 until August 2.

Written by Rody Vera, the play is based on the book of the same title by INQUIRER.net columnist Benjamin Pimentel. Fifty years after they fought alongside the Americans during World War II, Filipino veterans in the twilight of their lives find themselves in a cable car station in Powell Street.

They are thousands of miles away from home. Instead of “sitting under a mango tree, drinking beer and eating sitsaron,” they wait vainly for the benefits promised to them. They all share a common desire — the chance for their body to be buried in their homeland.
