MANILA, Philippines–Leave your weapons and stun guns at home.

Echoing advisories of the Departments of Foreign Affairs, and Labor and Employment, the Manila International Airport Authority on Tuesday reminded Hong Kong-bound travelers not to bring any weapons or arms paraphernalia into the Chinese territory.

“The possession of stunning devices and others such as tear gas, bullets, extendable batons, flick knives and knuckle dusters are considered arms under the Firearms and Ammunition Ordinance of Hong Kong,” the MIAA said.

The unlicensed possession of such items in Hong Kong is punishable by a fine of HK$100,000 (about P560,000) and a maximum of 14 years in prison.

“All hand-carried and checked-in luggage are subjected to security screening in the ports and terminals,” the MIAA said.

The Philippine consulate in Hong Kong had received information from the local police force about the increasing number of Filipino passengers who were arrested and convicted for possession of stunning devices.–Jerome Aning
