CAAP warns of flight delays ahead of Obama visit

MANILA, Philippines — Travelers to Manila are warned of flight delays of two hours or more on the day of the state visit of US President Barack Obama, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said on Monday.

“For flights inbound Manila with (estimated time of arrival) of 12 noon or later, expect delay of two hours or more at airports of origin,” the CAAP said in its Twitter account.

Although the CAAP only said the delay is due to “special operations,” the advisory was issued ahead of the arrival of Obama for his state visit in Manila on Monday.

Meanwhile, Cebu Pacific also warned of possible of flight delays due to Obama’s state visit.

“Please expect some flight schedule changes or possible delays from April 28 to 29,” Cebu Pacific said in its Twitter account.

Cebu Pacific also advised travelers to arrive at the airport three hours before flight departure from Manila to avoid possible traffic in the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

Obama is expected to arrive in Manila around 1:30 p.m.

Obama will arrive in the Philippines just hours after the signing of an agreement between the country and US allowing an increased presence of American troops in the former US colony.
