“Waste when not properly managed can adversely affect the environment and thus children and their health. This is why this initiative is so vital. It is also a good example of interagency collaboration within the United Nations in the Philippines,” said Abdul Alim who signed the agreement on behalf of UNICEF.

UNDP has launched a debris management program to help communities build back faster and better after Super typhoon “Yolanda” devastated the Visayas in November last year that left mountains of debris in the affected areas.

UNDP said, the project which would be implemented by the UNDP and funded by UNICEF, would help boost the waste management in the Visayas.
